In relation to the crisis in the Red Sea in the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, which has seen assaults on cargo ships by Yemenite Houthi rebels, we have compiled some data on the canal's traffic to highlight its strategic importance and possible effects in terms of disruption to international supply chains and energy supplies.
