The Italian government has supported enterprises and encouraged the expansion of the various production sectors through the SEZs of the South and, more recently, the Single SEZ of the South. Establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) also has the effect of promoting commerce and quickening investment in the designated regions. This study examines the socio-economic effects of the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) of Campania, which are the first SEZ of the South and are being transformed into a Single SEZ, in light of the benefits that foreign SEZs offer to the employment and investment sectors in terms of ports, economic-territorial growth, and social development. The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of investments on transportation infrastructure and whether trade (imports and exports) is impacted by the Special Economic Zone in Campania Region. Based on the findings, it is necessary to promote the interaction between SEZs and the technology industry in addition to land-use. The labour sector and the expansion of trade both gain value. It is suggested that policies on different industrial sectors be promoted to bring the SEZ in Campania closer to international standards.
